I got a cat safe 🌱and both are still alive.
If you aren’t aware, some plants can make cats sick and/or DIE. I’m not being dramatic as my daughter calls it, it’s a thing. And if you aren’t aware of that then you might not be aware that precious fuzz-butt baby cats love to nibble on plants. Those Little adorable balls of fur and fresh! *shakes head “no”admiringly with heart eyes* Because of this (and my knack for forgetting to water plants) is why I’ve stayed away from owning real plants… until now.
Meet Spidey! She’s a handsome Spider plant from Trader Joe’s. She’s a tropical plant so she loves moderate sun, sitting on my window sill and watching true crime docs. Most important, shes’ not going to kill my sweet kitty babies (including Lil’ Man Fitz featured below) if they munch her leaves.
Spidey Fitz the Spider plant
It is not lost on me that the plant I bought is in a plastic pot (is it a pot if it’s plastic?). But what am I going to do? Fight Trader Joe’s? Baby steps.
Full disclose, Lil’ Man has in fact been munching on Spidey’s leaves a bit more than I realized. We are on a disciplinary plan to resolve the behavior and Spidey is on the mend. I should probably note under her attributes that she is apparently very delicious. If nothing else, it’s proof of concept, right? He still alive.
Lil’ Man Fitz, plant killer or lover?
Anywho, if you don’t want to murder cats (please don’t murder cats) but want to own plants, click here for a list of cat AND DOG friendly plants from Buzzfeed. I’m not petsist!
