Okay ladies now let's get in Reformation.

The gist: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Reformation is an online women’s clothing store with a focus on sustainability. I have bought a few pieces from them over the past year and have become a bit of a fan of their fashion and sustainability efforts. Below is why.

Sustainability
Reformation puts sustainability at the forefront of their business. They put out a quarterly sustainability report available to everyone. They detail the impact to the environment of each garment on their product pages. They are constantly working on improving their carbon footprint. They recycle their clothes. And they donate to organizations that replenish and support materials they utilize like the Brazilian Rosewood Amazon Conservation. They have tips on their website about smart washing your clothes because most clothing carbon footprint happens after you buy it! Yeah, that guy from college who never washed his jeans? An environmental hero. Anyway, I’ve learned so much from just buying a sweater. Reformation goes into a lot more detail on their site in their About section. Feel free to read up here

The Fashion
Listen, I’m no Spring chicken but it doesn’t mean I have to dress like an old hen. Some of Reformation’s stuff is a little too sexy for me but I love the modern silhouettes of their sweaters and there are some sensible skirts, pants and dresses available that don’t have a slit up to your/my unmentionables. Which is where I live. My mom always said if you’re showing boob, you can’t show leg and vice versa. That there folks is where I get my classiness.

Bought this here sweater and skirt, good quality, form fitting but not too tight.

My biggest beef is with the prices. Like, it’s a lot. But how I justify it personally is my move to quality over quantity in regards to my clothes buying. I’m no minimalist (yet) but I am trying to buy less with more thought. Therefore I can spend a little more on individual items. It’s a process. My second beef is their size range. They do have some items in plus size but their UX is all coo coo. On the product page it will mention the item comes in plus size but you have to click a link to shop it and it takes you to a product that is in fact sold in plus size but it’s a different item all together. Um, what? Thirdly, things run a little small. Nothing beats up my already fragile self-esteem like having to go up a size. But the actually pieces I have bought after jumping those hurdles I have really liked. Classics with modern twists that are great quality.

And of course their packaging is environmentally lovely. No excess for no reason. Cardboard. Keep it up guys, you’re saving the world! You can shop Reformation here.
